Fall is officially here. The leaves are starting to turn colors, the evenings have become cooler, and our clocks have been set back an hour. As pretty as autumn is, I miss summer. I miss the warmth of the evenings, wearing day dresses, and laying on the grass under a tree. I miss having school off, and nights with no curfew, where me and my friends would chase fireflies while running barefoot on the hot sidewalks. It has been a while since I’ve had a summer vacation but those childhood memories still warm me up, especially, in cold days like this.
However, one thing I am looking forward to the next couple of months is visiting my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even though my mom has just visited me, going home for the holidays has always been my favorite time of the year, especially after I left for college. The food, the shopping, and getting to spend time with my family and friends, make these holidays blissful and truly happy. This year, I want to contribute to our traditional Thanksgiving dinner with a dessert of some sort. Although I love baking, I am not very good at it. In fact, I am actually kind of terrible at it, I even overcook premade cookies. However, I am a big believer that practice makes perfect, and because of that I am going to try to spend the next couple of weeks in the kitchen, just baking desserts. That way, when I go home, I would already have perfected a recipe and it will be yummy! I am open to any dessert ideas, preferably something decadent and chocolate-y but will be browsing Pinterest later on today to get inspired.
